Hello Everyone

Well, we are off and running and things seem to be looking good for us.  We went 2-2 in our first tournament of the year at Topton and I was pleased with what I saw for our first time getting together to play games.  Unfortunatly, our first tournament weekend was cancelled, so we had a lot to do in one day of softball.  With the weather that we had over the 4th of July weekend, we ended up playing four games on Saturday and once we dropped into the losers bracket, we played back to back late in the afternoon and we just ran out of gas.  Overall we are pleased with the result and we moved onto Shippensburg.

Shippensburg started off with a bang with Hull, Litts and Muthard hitting three home runs in the first inning to take us to a 5-0 lead, but as the game wore on, we made too many metal mistakes and we ended up winning the game on a 2 run home run by Kate Davis for the final score 7-5.  We won our second game easily, but not without injury.  Courtney Christie slid into second base and unfortunatly she dislocated her ankle and broke her leg.  She was a trooper and toughed out the pain, had surgery and then joined us for dinner later that evening.  We ended up tying our third game for the team just wasn't into playing after the accident.  We dropped our morning game on Sunday which put us once again in the losers bracket and we won our second game in extra innings.  We just got started in the third game of the afternoon, then the rains came.  That ended the day.  We have some work to do and some bodies to heal, so they are getting this weekend off to rest up and get ready for the Garfield Tournament

The Garfield weekend was uneventful as we went 1-2 and went home packing with our tail between our legs.  We did have a small meeting at the end of the day before we had a team party afterwards which helped everyone get back on the same page.  We look forward to next year to redeam ourselves for our poor perfomance.

This finally brings us to Drifton.  Once again, rain stopped all play before it got started on Saturday, so we played the tournament on Sunday.  We went 4-0 to win the Drifton Tournament.  It was nice to play different teams and we were able to play a team from Quebec twice.  I have to say that the team from Quebec was just one or two pitchers away from being an outstanding team.  We really had some great games with them.  We hope to play them again next year.

Well, that is it for 08.  We are looking for some players for next year, so if you are interested, please contact us and let us know.  I hope that everyone has a great fall and we look forward to representing the Lehigh Valley next summer as we head out on the diamond.

I have to take this time to thank all of you that have sponsored and supported the Gators.  We hope that you have enjoyed watching us play, as we always try to put the best on display for you.  Should you have any questions for us, please email us at the link on the side bar.

Have a great day and a fun offseason!

Best regards

Coach Wolf
